The identification of the perceived family support of patients treated by hemodialysis therapy due to chronic kidney failure in North Cyprus

Abstract
This research was conducted as descriptive to be aimed to determine perceived family support of hemodialysis patients. Theniverse of this research is composed of 169 patients from all the hospitals having dialysis unit in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC). Socio-demographic data form with 17 question and ”Perceived Family Support Scale“ were used as data as data collection. The data of the research was analyzed via SPSS for Windows 22.0 programme. In the evaluation of data; number, percent, average, standars deviation and Kruskall Whallis-H test, in the compare of quantitative continual data between two independent group, were applied as descriptive statistical method. İndications were evaluated %95 confidence interval, %5 level of significance. The points among income rate, education level, the influence status of family relations, feeling state of the family support, the positive effect to the illness of family and relatives’ support, support person status except family members are determined significant difference statistically. As a conclusion, in our search, the patients’ level of perceived family support was determined at intermediate level and it was stated that the patients need family support. For this reason, it is suggested some arrangements like educational works related to the possible problems of the illness and developing communication skills each other for patients’close circle to increase perceived family support.
